Dream Realized – Partly

TennisOne was founded on the dream of bringing the best teaching pros around the world to everyone. We've realized many parts of that dream over the last 14 years, bringing an incredible array of talent and technology together to create what you see in each week's TennisOne edition.

But even with the evolution of the web and its availability, it's been frustrating that the great tennis instructional content we've developed can only be viewed on computers, computers usually inside someone's office or home. Quite often there's a time lag between viewing content in your home and office and when you're actually out on the tennis court trying to implement what you've just learned.

TennisOne iPhone App

With the introduction of TennisOne content on mobile platforms (more later), we're closing that gap. Now you can literally walk on to the tennis court and have the greatest tennis pros in the world teach you tennis. I don't usually go in for superlatives, but I have to say Wow to that one.

Mobile Platforms and Apps

While no one, including us, is predicting that computers as we know them are going away, the world is obviously migrating to mobile platforms (mobile phones and tablets). So in terms of tennis instruction, TennisOne is again leading the way. Thus far, we've turned three of our instructional DVDs into "apps" that can be purchased and downloaded from the Apple iTunes store just like music. Once you experience how an app works on your mobile device, I'm sure you'll love it. It eliminates many of the technical complexities of viewing content on the web. You just press the app icon on your device, and a great looking video and easy-to-use menu pop up. It "plays" just like a DVD on your computer.

More Choice and Options for You

We'll continue to do all the great things we do on TennisOne and the web. Today's announcement just provides you with more options for enjoying TennisOne and learning from the greatest minds in tennis. And yes, we realize there are many more mobile platforms beyond the iPhone and iPad. We're on it!

And before the year ends, let me extend a Happy Holidays to everyone.

Current Features

The Kick Serve

The kick serve is one of the most effective serves on the pro tour. It has high net clearance and it is difficult to return which makes it the ideal second serve. However, at the club level, the kick serve is rarely seen and it's proper execution remains somewhat of a mystery. In this video, former world number one doubles champion, Ken Flach, takes you through the steps necessary to develop an effective kick serve of your own.

"Failure to Prepare is Preparing to fail"

Legendary basketball coach John Wooden used these words to inspire his UCLA Bruins teams to 10 national championships in the 60’s and 70’s. A master of preparation and focus, Wooden believed that basketball games were won and lost on the practice floor. Greg Moran believes coach Wooden would have made one heck of a tennis coach. At least once a week, you and your partner should walk onto the court with a specific plan and set of drills that will allow you to hit as many balls as possible and work on your various doubles skills. Here's how!

ProStrokes 2.0 – Andy Roddick's Net Game

Andy Roddick has been the top american player since the glory days of Sampras and Agassi. In his “Hall of Fame” career (for certainly he will be inducted one day) he has held the Number 1 ranking and has led the American Davis Cup to victory in 2008. Andy won the US Open in 2003 and came within inches and truly one swing of a 2009 Wimbledon title. It seems, however, there will always be this but to his name – could he have done more with his game were he to have become more fluent in the moving forward skill set? We may never know – but you can be sure he will give each and every match his all. After All, Andy is a gamer with a fighter's heart. New this issue, some nifty Andy Roddick volley sequences.
